Sunnyside Sliced, a cult favorite pizzeria, has expanded its reach with a second location in the unexpected setting of Docklands. This move marks a strategic shift for owner Ali Cengiz, who aims to cater to a diverse range of customers, from the residents of nearby high-rise buildings to pre- and post-footy crowds from Marvel Stadium. The new shop, located beneath Home Docklands, offers a neighborhood slice shop experience with a focus on thin-crusted, New York-style pizzas. The menu features classic bestsellers like the three cheese and pepperoni options, along with a new halal-friendly pepperoni. Additionally, thicker-crusted deep-pan pizzas with a Sicilian influence and a range of sub sandwiches are available. The venue's signature drink, an icy Arnold Palmer, complements the food perfectly. This expansion follows Sunnyside's successful opening in Brisbane earlier this year. Four other notable pizza spots are also highlighted: Porco Ciccio in Thornbury for Roman-style pizza, Mile 9 in West Melbourne and a CBD pop-up for Detroit-style pizza, Upper Middle in South Melbourne for Neapolitan-leaning pizzetti, and Garfield in Carlton for Tokyo-style pizza. Each of these establishments offers a unique twist on traditional pizza, showcasing the diverse pizza scene in Melbourne.
